Thermocouples

  • Industrial Thermocouple Elements, Protection Tubes and Assemblies - Pyromation offers a large variety of thermocouple components and assemblies for use in virtually all high temperature heavy industrial process applications. These components and assemblies find use in heat treating, forging, smelting and melting, utility and waste boilers, incineration and cogeneration, and many other severe use processes. Inquiries are invited for standard components and assembly styles, as well as for special materials and constructions for use in difficult process applications.
  • Magnesium Oxide Insulated Thermocouple Assemblies - Pyromation offers a large variety of Magnesium Oxide insulated thermocouples, commonly referred to as MgO thermocouples. They are used in a variety of process and laboratory applications as their many desirable characteristics make them a good choice for general and special purpose use. They are available in all thermocouple element types, numerous sheath diameters and materials. Their ruggedness and moderately high temperature characteristics make these thermocouples a popular choice for a multitude of temperature measuring applications.
  • Temperature Sensors for the Plastics, Rubber and Packaging Industries - Pyromation offers temperature sensors for the Plastics, Rubber and Packaging industries in standard and custom designs. These temperature sensors are provided with either thermocouple or RTD measuring elements and are typically supplied with fiberglass leads inside 304 stainless steel sheaths. All thermocouple and platinum RTD element assemblies are temperature rated up to 482 °C [900 °F] except type T thermocouples, which are rated up to 371 °C [700 °F]. All other RTD assemblies are rated up to 204 °C [400 °F]. Special construction assemblies are available upon request.

RTDs (Resistance Temperature Detectors)

  • General Purpose RTD's - Pyromation's general purpose RTD temperature sensor assemblies find use in a multitude of process and HVAC applications. Assemblies are offered with a choice of element materials, values and accuracies, a choice of element leadwire configurations, and a choice of sheath materials and diameters. Many assemblies are supplied in drilled or flanged wells, and all assemblies can be supplied with Pyromation's low cost integral head mounted RTD transmitter. RTD temperature sensors for special purpose applications can be found in the "Special Purpose" section.
  • CIP Sanitary Connecting RTD's - Pyromation's general purpose CIP sanitary connector RTD temperature sensors are used in food, dairy, beverage, pharmaceutical, and chemical processing applications where sensor corrosion and product contamination are critical factors. These sensors meet or exceed finish specifications set forth by the 3A Sanitary Council Standard #09-08.
  • RTD Temperature Transmitters - Pyromation's patented RTD transmitters are designed to produce a linerized (4 to 20) mA DC output current signal, which is directly proportional to the temperature of the RTD temperature sensing element. A variety of models are available for RTD sensor inputs of different element values and temperature coefficients. The model described is designed for use with RTD's that have platinum measuring elements with temperature coefficients of 0.00385 and 0.00392. Consult George E. Booth Co., Inc. for other available models.

Special Purpose

  • Averaging Sensors - Sensors to measure cross-sectional temperatures in large air ducts.
  • Insertion Probes - Thermocouples and RTD probes for penetrating Meats, Fish, Poultry and Other Food products.
  • Heat Tracing / Tube Skin - RTDs or Thermocouples with weld pads for pipelines or boiler tube skin temperature measurement.
  • Rubber Compound and Aggregate Mixer - Thermocouples with hardened tool steel, carbide, tungsten or chrome coated tips for abrasive service.
  • Textile "T" Sensor - RTD sensor for "Godet" temperature measurement in textile fiber processing.
  • High Temperature Service - Platinum thermocouples in high temperature sheaths for vacuum furnace service.
  • Cerite© Assemblies - Thermocouples with non-wetting protection tubes for molten aluminum.
  • Waste Incineration Thermocouples  Thermocouples with special protection tubes for high temperature corrosive service.
  • Wet / Dry Bulb Tanks - Psychometric temperature and humidity measurement  in smokehouses and lumber drying kilns.
  • Drilled and Flanged Thermowells - Pyromation offers a large variety of drilled and flanged thermowells to protect temperature sensing elements from the corrosion, high pressure and high velocities that can be present in many industrial process applications. Drilled thermowells are typically manufactured from single piece bar-stock without welds. Flanged thermowells typically have their stems manufactured from single piece bar-stock and have flanges welded onto the stem. Both styles are available in several different physical configurations, in a variety of materials, and with a choice of bore sizes and mounting threads or flange sizes. Thermowells are available as separate components or as a part of a complete temperature sensor assembly.

Accessories

  • Connecting Hardware - Pyromation offers a large selection of complementary temperature sensor accessory devices to aid in the use of thermocouple and RTD temperature sensing assemblies. Offerings include quick disconnect plugs and jacks, multiple circuit jack panels and enclosures, sensor mounting fittings, compensated terminal blocks, bare thermocouple wire, ceramic insulators, pyrometer lances and replacement lance tips.
  • Connecting Heads and Blocks - Pyromation's connecting heads are recognized as the Processing Industry's standard. Their screw cover heads are offered in five different metal alloy configurations and in two thermoplastic materials to provide excellent protection from the most severe corrosive process environments. These heads meet several different requirements, including two UL©1 listed explosion-proof offerings.  they are designed to accept a choice of six different ceramic terminal blocks or their patented RTD transmitter. A miniature nickel-plated steel head is also available with a choice of terminal block configurations. All heads are available as an integral part of our temperature sensor assemblies or as separate component parts.
